Ubisoft alledgly sue's Google and Apple for copyright infringement

French games publishing giant Ubisoft has filed a lawsuit against Apple and Google for selling a mobile game that it claims is "near carbon copy" of it's Rainbow six siege multiplayer shooter.

The game in question is Area F2, which was developed by Alibabas Ejoy and Qookka Games division. According to Ubisoft, the two teams state "very every aspect of Area F2 from Ubisoft Montreal-developed seige.

Ubisoft says that it made Apple and Google aware of this alleged copyright Infringement but the two tech giants refused to take down the game from the Apple store and play store respectively.

Later on, Ubisoft dismissed it's complaint following Area F2's removal from sale. They sent the following statement :
"Ubisoft is pleased that Area F2 has been removed from sale by Ejoy.com. As a consequence we have decided to dismissed the complaint made against Ejoy.com, Apple and Google. Moving forward we remain committed to protecting all of our intellectual property and the hard work of our teams. "

It looks like Enjoy has given in without a fight; Area F2 has been shutdown effectively so those who spent money on the game can apply for refunds.

The developer did leave room for a return, "though we are carrying out improvements to Area F2 in order to deliver a better experience to players", it wrote in a Facebook update. Perhaps, Area F2 will return with artwork and an interface that are less obviously siege-like ?
